Army to end most of their ceremonial horse programs
The Associated press announced that the US Army calvary units will be moving into the future without the ceremonial horses and will put most of them up for adoption. These units were tied to the soldiers who rode into battle on horseback. The Army will keep operating the Old Guard ceremonial Caisson units honor burials. The Army is estimating that they will save around $2 Million a year by closing down the Units. The horses will be adopted out or donated to organizations.
